Computer Dust

computer dust
How often should you blow all the dust out of a laptop computer?

Like is weekly good? My laptop has never gotten too hot but I want to prevent it from getting too hot. I’ve had it for a little over than a year. My battery dies so quickly I think if I clean out all the dust it should last longer. I just want to make sure to keep my computer safe and clean.

Your battery life has nothing to do with dust unless it is causing your fan to overwork itself.

Clean your computer out once a month, I find the best way is with a hair dryer set to cool.

As for your battery life, pull up activity monitor / task manager (depending on your OS) and watch under the processes tab. Set it to list by most processor usage and watch which ones are chewing up the most CPU time. Anything over 20% will kill your battery in a newer computer. The most common causes are badly coded programs, to many programs open at once, Adobe Flash plugins, and badly coded web browsers (namely Internet Explorer).

Lighten up your OS as much as possible and use lightweight software as much as possible and you will reap the benefits.
